GGHC, H2E & CHE Webinar - Climate Change & Health Care
November 16, 2007

1:00 eastern, 12:00 central, 11:00 mountain and 10:00 pacific and will last for 90 minutes.

Topic

Al Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth" (www.climatecrisis.net)raised awareness of climate change to the mainstream audience.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established by WMO (World Meteorological Organization) and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The reports by the three Working Groups provide a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the current state of knowledge on climate change. The report concludes "evidence of a warming trend is 'unequivocal,' and that human activity has 'very likely' been the driving force in that change over the last 50 years." This report not only reflects the mounting evidence that the release of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases has played a role in raising the average surface temperature of the earth but has "also added new momentum to a debate that now seems centered less over whether humans are warming the planet, but instead over what to do about it."

The time is now for health care to get into action to do their collective part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Pull your team together, register for this call and join us on Nov 16.

This call is co-presented by Green Guide for Health Care (www.gghc.org), Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (www.h2e-online.org) and the Collaborative for Health and the Environment (www.healthandenvironment.org).
